Ashanti Douglas, also known as Ashanti was was born in Glen Cove New York United States on 13th October 1980. She is an American singer-songwriter and actor. The talent of Ashanti was discovered as a teen. The singer signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. In the same year, she made an appearance on Fat Joe's What's Luv? The singer also featured on Fat Joe's song"What's Luv!" as well as the Ja Rules' track Never on Time and Ja Rules track Always On Time, both of which were huge hits. She became the first female artist to hold top two spots within the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at number one and What's Luv? What's Luv? Let's celebrate the special occasion together. Ashanti Douglas also known as Ashanti as she's often referred to was born in Glen Cove New York in 1980. Tina Douglas is the mother of Ashanti and Ken Kaide Douglas happens to be the her father. She is the eldest and she has a Kenashia Shia who's her older sister. Douglas chose the name Ashanti in honor of the Ashanti Empire in which women had power and influence. Douglas hoped Ashanti would be like the Ashanti Empire. James was her great-grandfather. He worked as a leader in the civil rights movement with Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s. Ashanti's mom discovered Ashanti's talent after hearing her sing Mary J. Blige Reminisce. Ashanti was an actor in the child stage for Spike Lee's Malcolm X and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? Additionally, she was featured in several music videos like K.R.S. Act One's MCs Don't They Know and Eight-Off Ghetto Girls. Her career as a musician was hindered due to her lack of commercial success following her being approached by record labels such as Bad Boy and Jive. Despite not receiving any big breaks, Ashanti continued playing throughout New York. Ashanti first appeared on the track of Big Pun's We Roll as a backing singer. She also appeared on Fat Joe's single What's Luv? Ja Rule's Always on Time as well as Fat Joe's There is Love. The track she used for the debut single Foolish comes from DeBarge's Stay with Me which was released in 1983. Ashanti made her debut album, self-titled album in 2002, through Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. label. The Declaration is Ashanti's forth studio album. The album was released through Murder Inc. on the 3rd of June, 2008. The 16th of October Hey Baby (After the Club) was released to the radio and online outlets. She appeared as a character in the Christmas in the City film and also played Latasha in Army Wives. Aitch is one of the British artist, took a sample of her song Rock wit U for Baby on the 10th of March in 2022.
